About Euridice

Background

I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. I studied Liberal Arts at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV),  and then moved to Boston to complete a B.A. in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music. Aside from Berklee, music, and voice coaching, I also attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and MassArt in Boston, to further explore my life passion for visual arts. During the full time mom years, when my daughters were in primary school, I started building theatrical sets and props while volunteering for the 2 to 6 grades annual school plays. Not too long after that, in 2001, I joined the staff at Artbarn Community Theater, as a designer.  Since then, Artbarn has been the creative ground for my vision as a visual artist and educator. I'm very passionate about the arts overall and the undeniable power it has to heal and better humanity. I find myself in a constant desire to learn, explore, and discover the many ways I can create, teach, connect, and deliver. I feel incredibly grateful for my journey as an artist, and for all the people that have inspired me.

As a designer with Artbarn Community Theater, I create and build the scenery, the costumes, and many of the properties of 4 to six of their yearly musical productions. Most shows are designed for the big stage, and other shows are designed for touring different venues with a mobile set and simpler costumes. For each production, I  create a scenic idea, a plan for its construction, and a class curriculum to involve the kids in the building process. These shows are all done with a very low budget. Part of the challenge - and the  fun - is to design with limited resources, and the other is to find a way to engage the kids.  There is not a 'one size fits all' method to get the work done. Every show is different, and every design a new challenge. But the aspect that remains constant is the community: bringing kids together, making collective art, and working as a team toward a common goal.
